MMFF 2016: Be Excited to Watch

This year's MMFF 2016 made a drastic move of choosing quality films over commercially viable ones. In fairness to the new Committee, I really applaud what they have done because we can see their desire to make a change. Let us be united on the coming opening day of the film festival so that we could truly celebrate the quality of Filipino films.

Personal Picks

I am looking forward to "Die Beautiful" where Paolo Ballesteros won an acting award in Tokyo International Film Festival. Besides, the storytelling is quite amusing as the main character is dead and we would only glimpses of the story through flashback and every day of the wake the film would try to squeeze in.

I am also excited to watch "Seklusyon" by Erik Matti as I miss him doing horror films like the late TV series Kagat ng Dilim which still gives me creeps over time. Comedies are also in with "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 2" and hard-hitting dramas for "Oro" and "Kabisera" starring Nora Aunor. The first ever documentary entry "Sunday Beauty Queens" is a nice film to look forward to also as it entails the story of DH working in Hong Kong who held annual beauty contest. Lastly, "Saving Sally" a 10-year in the making film would be an animation centered film which is pretty great based on the trailer. This MMFF 2016 is really exciting isn't it?

We all know that this MMFF 2016 would not be able to surpass the billion sales last year but let us give this films a chance and we might learn to appreciate what a quality film really is. See you in theaters folks. Let us make our film industry shine again.
